God-Centered Marriage

The Right Attitude About Problems to Become More and More Like Jesus

Knowing that the more God can trust us to be obedient and faithful the more likely He will want to use us to honor Him through difficulty, could motivate us to not be so serious about following Jesus. Should we be less faithful to avoid troubles?

Job expected trouble from God. (Job 2:10)

Moses kept on going, even though it looked doubtful that he would see fulfilled the promises of God. (Hebrews 11:39) "He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasure of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward." (Hebrews 11:25, 26)

I like to say it this way: Would you rather have a super wonderful life without problems for a few 80 years and then a less wonderful life for all eternity or the other way around?

Oh, it's not easy to have such an attitude. That's why it is so valuable. It shows God that you significantly love Him to go through difficulties that He might be glorified. Like a husband taking his wife out on a date that was a lot of trouble to arrange, it really does communicate a deeper love!
